Vogt Lands At Arizona Corporation Commission In Ugly Maneuver

Ted Vogt

The Arizona Corporation Commission has appointed failed former legislator, Ted Vogt, as the organization’s Executive Director. Vogt, who has been passed around from agency to agency, most recently worked as a lobbyist with Traversant Group.

Vogt served for a very brief time as the Chief of Operations in the Ducey Administration, and as Director of the Arizona Department of Veterans’ Services. Vogt ran for re-election in the 2012 election for Arizona House of Representatives District 10, but was handily defeated.

The Vogt appointment followed the election of Tom Forese as the new Chairman for the Commission.

Vogt’s appointment was opposed by Commissioner Bob Burns. According to Capitol Media, “Burns refused to support Forese for chairman, saying after the meeting that he and Tobin had improperly tried to fire a commission employee and effectively got another to quit. That, in turn, resulted in Jodi Jerich, who has the exclusive power of hiring and firing staff, being forced out.”

Ducey has used both Tobin and Vogt to fill spots in government agencies.
