On Monday, January 9, 2017, just before 3:00 a.m., Pima County deputies responded to the 2800 block of South Shiela Avenue for a report of a robbery. When deputies arrived, they learned that two victims had been stabbed, and one suspect had fled the scene.

One male victim was immediately transported to the hospital with multiple stab wounds, and was pronounced deceased by hospital staff upon his arrival. His girlfriend suffered minor injuries and was also transported to the hospital.

After interviewing witnesses, detectives learned the female victim’s ex-boyfriend, 32-year-old James Murray Reaves, was the suspect who fled the scene. It was discovered that Reaves came over to the residence early in the morning, and a physical altercation ensued between Reaves and the male victim. Reaves allegedly proceeded to stab the male victim multiple times during the fight.

After the incident, Reaves fled to a nearby Circle K where he was picked up by someone driving a white pickup truck.

Detectives are asking for the public’s assistance in locating James Murray Reaves. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call 9-1-1. You can also submit an anonymous tip, with the potential for a reward, by text, phone, or by going to 88-CRIME.org.
