Sahuarita Man Second Suspect Arrested In 2010 Willcox Homicide

On November 20, 2010 at approximately 9:00 p.m. the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office was advised of a man, 51-year-old Gregory Neeley of Willcox, lying next to his vehicle which was parked along the Union Pacific Railroad right of way in the area of West Geronimo Drive and South Railroad Avenue in Willcox.

Mr. Neeley was suffering from severe trauma to his head area and was transported to a Tucson hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries.

Sheriff’s Detectives have been following leads in this investigation which lead to an arrest of a suspect, 30-year-old Jeffrey Allen Groves of Willcox, on July 5, 2016 at a motel in the Willcox area. Groves remains in custody of the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office on charges of Murder in the first degree.

On Monday January 9, 2017 a second suspect, 44-year-old David Antonio Verdugo of Sahuarita, was arrested and booked into the Cochise County Jail on charges of first degree Murder.

The Cochise County Sheriff’s Office is continuing this investigation and additional arrests are pending.
