Arizona’s Begay Offers Opening Invocation At National Prayer Service

Former Arizona State Senator, Carlyle Begay, representing the Navajo Nation offered the opening invocation at the National Prayer Service on Saturday, January 21. President Donald Trump attended the interfaith prayer service held at Washington’s National Cathedral.

Begay, a member of Trump’s inauguration committee, chanted a Navajo prayer and and offered blessings as he walked up the center aisle.

Begay is also Trump’s new White House advisor on Indian Affairs.

Representatives from Catholic, Greek Orthodox, Mormon, Jewish, Muslim, Sikh, Buddhist, and Bahá’í faiths participated.
