Tucson Man On Motorized Skateboard Killed In Vehicle Collision

On March 9, 2017, at 7:00 a.m., Tucson Police officers and members from the Tucson Fire Department responded to a report of a serious injury vehicle collision involving a truck and 26-year-old Daniel Robinson, who was operating a motorized skateboard (that included a seat and T style handle bars), on E. Lee St. near N. Craycroft Rd.

Paramedics immediately transported him to Banner University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries where he later succumbed to injuries and was pronounced deceased. The driver of the truck was not injured.

Detectives learned Mr. Robinson was traveling eastbound on Lee St., just east of Craycroft Rd. He was traveling on the northern sidewalk and entered the roadway through a private drive cutout. There was a white van legally parked along the northern cub, just east of the private drive. As the rider maneuvered around the van, he was struck head on by the driver of a white 2004 Isuzu flatbed truck heading westbound on Lee St. Neither speed nor impairments appear to be factors in this collision.
