Injury Collision On Highway 95 In Yuma

On March 13, 2017 at approximately 11:59 a.m., the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Highway 95 and Avenue 4E in reference to a report of a three vehicle collision involving injuries.

Investigation at the scene revealed that a silver 1996 Toyota pickup truck had completed a left turn from Avenue 4E to travel westbound on Highway 95. A white 2004 Chevrolet pickup was traveling westbound on Highway 95 in the same lane as the Toyota pickup. The Chevrolet pickup struck the rear end of the Toyota causing the driver to lose control and travel into the on-coming lanes of traffic on Highway 95 where the vehicle was struck by a 1999 Volvo disposal truck.

The driver of the Toyota, Mr. Salvador Salcido was transported from the scene to the Yuma Regional Medical Center for life threatening injuries. The driver of the Chevrolet, Mr. Michael Van Allen was also transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries by Rural Metro Ambulance.

This case remains under investigation.
