Body of Little Isabel Celis Found In Pima County Desert

Today, the Tucson Police Department held a press conference to announce that the body of Isabel Celis was discovered found in rural Pima County. The discovery was described as being “not a result of happenstance.”

Earlier this month, human remains were recovered from a remote area in Pima County. A portion of those remains were sent to an independent lab for DNA analysis. The results of the DNA analysis confirmed the remains to be that of Isabel.

In April of 2012, 6-year-old Isabel Celis went missing from her eastside home. The Tucson Police Department has actively worked and pursued leads in this case from the day Isabel was first reported missing.

Authorities say that “releasing further details at this time could have unintended consequences. As we move forward in our investigation, we will release additional details as they become available.

TPD is still asking anyone with information about this case to please call 88-CRIME. You CAN remain anonymous.
