crime

On April 4, 2017, around 2:20 p.m., Tucson Police officers and members from the Tucson Fire Department responded a report of a single vehicle collision into a palm tree at 6736 E. Dorado Blvd. Upon arrival, officers learned the adult male driver, 28-year-old Ben-David Pflug, was transported to Banner University Medical Center with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries at that time.

Mr. Pflug succumbed to injuries later that evening and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

Officers learned multiple witnesses observed Mr. Pflug driving a gray 2006 Scion at a high rate of speed through the residential neighborhood. Mr. Pflug’s vehicle left the roadway and struck a large rock and mailbox, before striking a palm tree. He was not wearing a seatbelt. The investigation is ongoing to determine if any impairment was also a factor in this collision.
