Ducey Signs Civil Asset Forfeiture Reform Bill

HB2477, which passed with nearly unanimous support in both the House and the Senate, was signed on Wednesday by Governor Doug Ducey. The bill is a watered down version of other bills introduced that addressed civil asset forfeiture.

The legislation increases the burden of proof needed in cases of civil asset forfeiture and establishes new oversight mechanisms on the use of funds seized by law enforcement to prevent fraud and misuse.
