TUCSON, Ariz. – U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at Arizona’s Port of San Luis arrested a Mexican national, as well as a woman from Glendale, Arizona, after finding a combined 50 pounds of heroin and methamphetamine during the weekend.

On Saturday afternoon, officers referred a 22-year-old Mexican woman for a secondary inspection of her Volkswagen sedan. Using a CBP narcotics-detection canine, officers located more than 30 pounds of meth, valued in excess of $93,000, hidden in the vehicle’s rocker panels and center hump.

Officers searching a Jeep SUV on Sunday, owned by a 31-year-old Glendale woman, were led to more than 19 pounds of heroin by a CBP narcotics-detection canine. The drugs are worth nearly $336,000. Oficers seized the drugs and vehicles, and turned both subjects over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
