Tempe’s Fees College Prep Teacher Arrested For Luring Student For Sexual Exploitation

On April 21, officials at Fees College Preparatory Middle School in Tempe sent a letter to parents regarding the arrest of Kara Loofborough for exposing herself to a student.

Loofborough, a former seventh grade science teacher at Fees College Preparatory Middle School was charged with:

luring a minor for sexual exploitation
furnishing harmful items to a minor
indecent exposure her

According to the letter, “Tempe Police and school district administration received information by means of a concerned parent that Ms. Loofborough was having inappropriate conversations with their children over the Internet. Upon receiving this information, Tempe Police immediately began to investigate the allegation and Ms. Loofborough was subsequently contacted and additional information was obtained in furtherance of this investigation. She was subsequently arrested on April 20.”

“Ms. Loofborough had not been on the Fees College Preparatory Middle School campus since March 2017. On March 30, 2017, Ms. Loofborough submitted her resignation for personal reasons to be effective May 1.”

The school reports that Loofborough has been a seventh grade teacher in the District since August 2016. “At the time she was hired, she had no criminal history reported based on the Districts fingerprint and record check with the Arizona Department of Public Safety and her background checked by the District revealed no adverse findings.

The school advised parents that counselors were “available for students and staff in the event that they need to speak to someone or expressed concerns regarding the situation.”
