Phoenix Police are investigating an accident involving a light-rail car that resulted in one fatality. At approximately 7:30 p.m. on Thursday at 19th Avenue and Las Palmaritas Drive, a light rail car hit and killed a pedestrian.
According to a Phoenix Police spokesperson, the victim was an adult male. Witnesses reported seeing the male appear to deliberately lay on the tracks in front of an oncoming light rail car. Police believe it was an act of suicide.
Light rail service was suspended.
