Tucson Police Investigate Oracle Road Homicide

On May 2, 2017, just before 12:15 p.m., Tucson Police officers responded to a report of a shooting at a motel in the 2600 block of N. Oracle Rd. Officers located an adult male with obvious gunshot trauma.

The officers immediately began rending aid using their Individual First Aid Kits (IFAKs) and CPR. Members from the Tucson Fire Department responded to the scene and took over treatment but the male succumbed to injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene.

The identity of the victim is being withheld, pending next of kin notification.

Preliminary information revealed possible suspects involved fled the scene into the neighborhood. Additional officers responded to assist including members from SWAT, Hostage Negotiations and K-9. As a precaution, Nash Elementary School was placed on lockdown.

Detectives were able to determine the victim was involved in a confrontation with several males in the parking lot of the motel when he was shot. At least two males were observed leaving the scene and remain outstanding.

The detectives are continuing the investigation and urging anyone with information about this incident to please call 911 or 88-CRIME. You can remain anonymous.
