Scottsdale Attorney Suspended For Violating Probation

A notice of noncompliance was filed by the State Bar of Arizona that alleged Gary D. Ansel breached the terms of his probation by failing to attend its Trust Account Ethics Enhancement Program or pay the costs and expenses of proceedings ordered for a prior sanction. A probation violation hearing was held on March 23, 2017 and he failed to appear.

The one-year probation period resulted from an earlier sanction ordered on Oct. 19, 2015 that admonished Ansel for trust account violations and failing to respond to the Bar’s investigation.

An hour prior to his probation violation hearing, Ansel called the Bar Counsel to inform her that he would not be attending the hearing as he had no interest in practicing law any further.

Although probation was intended to remedy Ansel’s misconduct, his failure to follow and meet the terms proved otherwise.

Gary D. Ansel’s suspension was effective on March 23, 2017. There are no costs and expenses imposed in this matter.
