Suspect Identified In Grant Road Homicide

Nathan Mayo, age 27, has been identified as a suspect in a shooting of 17-year-old Carl Thompson, on May 8, shortly before 7:30 p.m., in the parking lot of 305 W. Grant Rd. Tucson Police detectives obtained a Felony Arrest Warrant for Mayo for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Aggravated Assault with Serious Physical Injury.

On May 8, Tucson Police officers located Mr. Thompson, with obvious signs of gunshot trauma. The officers summoned members from the Tucson Fire Department and immediately began rendering aid using their Individual First Aid Kits (IFAKs) and CPR. Paramedics arrived on scene and Mr. Thompson was transported to Banner University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. On May 13, 2017 detectives learned Mr. Thompson, succumbed to injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital. His next of kin has been notified.

Tucson Police Department detectives conducted the on scene investigation. They were able to determine a female was dropped off at the restaurant by Mayo to meet with her boyfriend and his family. While in the parking lot an argument ensued between Mayo, the boyfriend and the boyfriend’s juvenile brother, Mr. Thompson. During the course of the argument, the suspect pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the boyfriend before shooting.

Mayo retreated to his vehicle and fled the scene. An extensive search was conducted but the suspect was not located. However, officers did locate and recover his vehicle.

If you see Mayo, call 911 immediately and DO NOT approach. He is considered armed and dangerous. If you have information on Mr. Mayo’s whereabouts, please call 911 or 88-CRIME.
