Suspect Arrested For Grant Road Shooting Homicide

On May 17, 2017 the Tucson Police Department received information that Nathan Mayo was possibly on foot in a specific area on the eastside of town. Officers from Operations Division East and deputies with the U.S. Marshals Service responded to search for Mayo.

In the area of East 22nd Street and South Harrison Road, Nathan Mayo was spotted and ran from authorities. After a brief foot pursuit and well-coordinated effort between agencies, Mayo was taken into custody without incident.

Nathan Mayo was booked into the Pima County Jail on one count of Second Degree Murder for the shooting death of 17-year-old Carl Thompson.

On May 8, 2017, shortly before 7:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting in the parking lot of 305 W. Grant Rd. Upon arrival, officers located a male with obvious signs of gunshot trauma.  Paramedics arrived on scene and the male was transported to Banner University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
