Sleeping Man Attacked With Pepper Spray, Armed Robbery Attempted In Yuma County

On Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at approximately 3:10 a.m., Yuma County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 8800 block of East Highway 95 in reference to an attempted armed robbery.

The victim reported to deputies that while he was sleeping in the bed of his vehicle waiting to go to work, an unknown male subject wearing dark clothing and a ski mask approached the vehicle and sprayed him with what appeared to be pepper spray from a squirt gun and demanded money. The victim was able to flee from the suspect to call for help. The suspect fired two gunshots, both striking the victim’s vehicle.

The suspect left the area in an unknown direction in a black SUV. No injuries were reported and no monetary loss.
