Former Douglas Police Sergeant Sentenced To 5 Years In Prison

Theodore Kulkens

Theodore Kulkens, a former Douglas Police Sergeant, was sentenced to 5 years in prison for transporting 224 pounds of marijuana from Douglas to Tucson.

Less than a month after Kulkens was sentenced to probation for theft from the Douglas Police Department, the Cochise County Sheriff’s Department arrested Kulkens for transporting 224 pounds of marijuana in the back of an SUV on December 10, 2016.

Kulkens pleaded guilty to Transportation of Marijuana for Sale and he admitted that the offense violated the terms of his probation. Cochise County Judge Wallace Hoggatt sentenced Kulkens to 5 years in prison for transporting the marijuana and also revoked his probation in the theft case. Kulkens was sentenced to concurrent prison time.

Kulkens still owes $14,991 in restitution to the Douglas Police Department. A percentage of any money Kulkens earns while in prison will go toward restitution.
