Navajo County Sheriff’s Office Calls In Drone To Find Missing Man

The Navajo County Sheriff’s Office found a “more efficient way to do government” when it employed a drone to find a missing man.

On May 27, the Navajo County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a call of a missing person in the area of highway 260 and the Claysprings turn off. Authorities believed that he walked into the forest area east of that location.

Deputies requested the assistance of NCSO’s Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV). It took just 45 minutes for Deputies to locate the missing person and get coordinates to his location after the UAV was deployed.

This was the first mission that the UAV was used.

Navajo County Sheriff Clark commented, “the application of UAV’s will revolutionize law enforcement as the 2 way radio and computer did.”
