Arizona Mayors Issue Meaningless Statements In Opposition To Trump On Paris Climate Deal [Poll]
Shortly after 3:00 p.m. in the Rose Garden at the White House President Trump ended the suspense and announced that the United States will pull out of the Paris Climate Accord and stop the redistribution of America’s wealth. Within hours, Arizona mayors issued meaningless statements in opposition.
In 2015, Politico reported on “Why the Paris climate deal is meaningless.” According to the report, the Paris Climate Accord negotiators did not hash “out a fair allocation of the deep emissions cuts all countries would need to make to limit warming.” The report argued that emissions reductions were not a priority, and instead the negotiations were “rigged” to ensure an agreement was “reached regardless of how little action countries plan to take. The developing world, projected to account for four-fifths of all carbon-dioxide emissions this century, will earn applause for what amounts to a promise to stay on their pre-existing trajectory of emissions-intensive growth.”
