New Born Baby Found In Backpack In Tempe Parking Lot

On June 4, 2017 at approximately 7:46 p.m., a newborn baby was found after she was abandoned in the parking lot of 1338 East Apache Blvd. in Tempe. A pedestrian was walking through the area reported this information to the store manager.

The manager found a newborn baby girl that was wrapped in a blanket and placed inside a backpack inside a shopping cart. The baby girl was transported to the hospital and is reported to be in good health.

Tempe Police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the baby girl and are asking anyone who has information about her identity to contact Tempe Police at 480-350-8311.

All fire departments and hospitals are considered safe havens, which according to state law, indicates that a person will not face criminal charges for leaving and unharmed newborn baby with a safe haven provider.
