Tucson Police Investigate Double Homicide In Mission Manor Park [Updated]

[Updated] Detectives have identified the victims of the double homicide that occurred at Mission Manor Park on Wednesday night. The victims have been identified as 20-year-old Roman Nieto and 26-year-old Guillermo Ortiz-Morales. Their next of kin has been notified.

The detectives have learned Mr. Nieto and Mr. Ortiz-Morales had been at the park when they got into a verbal argument with an unknown male. During the course of the argument, the male produced a handgun and shot Mr. Nieto and Mr. Ortiz-Morales before fleeing in a vehicle. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male with a stocky build. He was driving a dark colored passenger car, possibly a Dodge or a Chrysler.

On June 7, 2017, around 10:15 p.m., Tucson Police officers responded to several reports of a shooting at Mission Manor Park. Upon arrival, they located citizens providing first aid to two adult males lying on the ground in the western parking lot.

The males succumbed to injuries and were pronounced deceased on scene. Their identities are being withheld, pending next of kin notification.

Detectives from the Tucson Police Department Homicide Unit responded to the scene to continue the investigation. The investigation is in the early stages and additional information will be released as it becomes available. A suspect has not been identified at this time. Detectives learned multiple people were at the park during the time the incident occurred.
