A Rottweiler mauled a 1-year-old Phoenix boy, who later died from his injuries, on Friday. A Phoenix Police officer was forced to shoot the dog in order to stop the attack.
The attack occurred at approximately 1:20 p.m., in the 1900 block of East Sunland Avenue.
According to Phoenix Police, the baby’s grandmother was babysitting.
The baby, M.J. Raya, was dragged out of the house by the family dog, who had entered the home, when the grandmother opened the back door.
The grandmother had placed the baby on the floor while she did laundry.
Once the dog stopped attacking the baby, officers were able to provide medical assistance, but the baby was in extremely critical condition.

Words cannot describe the shock and horror of this event.
My thoughts, prayers and condolences go out to this family for their loss.
Very sorry for ur lost!!! Xxooo An animal that strong and usually very protective of its human family!! When I owned a massive rotti and raised since birth would let my toddlers feed him out of his bowl but after of 1yr and a half he matured and wanted to work and was still protective of the whole family!! Rotti’s will always go after the aggressive person!! But know matter what a child is way more important than an animal!!
Dear Raya family please try and find peace and strength, we will be praying for you all at this difficult time. Our hearts go out to you all.
