Nogales CBP Officers, Canine Find $201K in Cocaine, Heroin

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Port of Nogales seized approximately $201,000 worth of cocaine and heroin Monday morning.

Officers at the Mariposa crossing referred a 31-year-old Mexican man for a secondary inspection of his Chevrolet truck when he attempted to enter the U.S. A CBP narcotics-detection canine subsequently alerted to the truck’s speaker box. Inside, officers found multiple packages containing more than 10 pounds of cocaine, worth in excess of $115,000, and almost 5 pounds of heroin worth nearly $86,000.

Officers arrested the driver and turned him over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations. The vehicle and drugs were seized.
