San Luis Man Arrested With Nearly 40 lbs Of Hard Drugs

Agents seized a combination of heroin and meth, worth $400K

Wellton Station Border Patrol agents seized approximately 20 pounds of methamphetamine, nearly 20 pounds of heroin and a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee from a 19-year-old San Luis, Arizona, man Saturday afternoon.

Agents working at the immigration checkpoint on Interstate 8, east of Yuma, referred the man for a secondary inspection of his Jeep Cherokee after a canine alerted to an odor it was trained to detect emitting from the vehicle. During the search, agents found multiple packages of the narcotics, worth more than $400,000 combined.

Agents placed the male, U.S. Citizens under arrest, seized the drugs and vehicle for processing in accordance with Yuma Sector guidelines.
