Agents Find 170lbs of Marijuana after K9 Alert

Agents found bundles of marijuana behind the seats and inside  a toolbox in the back  of the smuggling vehicle.

Willcox Station Border Patrol agents working at the State Route 90 immigration checkpoint near Whetstone arrested two Arizona men, ages 55 and 43, after discovering more than $85,000 worth of marijuana in their extended-cab pickup truck Wednesday afternoon.

A Border Patrol canine alerted agents to an odor it was trained to detect when a 2002 Ford F-150 arrived at the SR 90 immigration checkpoint. After the driver was referred for a secondary inspection of the truck, agents found multiple marijuana bundles with a combined weight exceeding 170 pounds. Agents also found a small amount of meth and drug paraphernalia while searching the driver.

Agents seized the truck and narcotics, while both men were arrested for drug smuggling and are being held for federal prosecution.
