Nogales CBP Officers Seize $725K in Cocaine

Officers discovered packages of cocaine within the door frames of a smuggling vehicle

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at Arizona’s Port of Nogales arrested a 32-year-old Mexican man Wednesday morning after finding almost $725,000 worth of cocaine in his vehicle when he applied to enter through the Secure Electronic Network for Travelers Rapid Inspection (SENTRI) dedicated vehicle lane.

Officers had started conducting a secondary search on the man’s 2001 Chevy Tahoe at the Dennis DeConcini crossing when a CBP narcotics-detection canine alerted to the vehicle. As a result, officers located approximately 64 pounds of cocaine hidden throughout the vehicle.

Officers arrested the man for narcotics smuggling, seized the vehicle and drugs, and revoked his SENTRI trusted traveler document.
