Arizona Air National Guard Pilot Killed In F-16 Crash Near Safford

An F-16 Fighting Falcon based out of the Arizona Air National Guard’s 162nd Wing crashed approximately 20 miles northwest of Safford, Arizona at 3 p.m. on September 5, 2017.

The Graham County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that the pilot is deceased. The pilot was flying an F-16 belonging to the Iraqi air force. The U.S. Air Force is training Iraqi pilots in F-16 fighters at the request of the Iraqi government.

The 162nd Wing is based out of the Tucson Airport.
