Marana Carjacker In Custody In Maricopa County

The Marana Police Department is investigating a carjacking that occurred at the Giant gas station located at 7820 N Silverbell Rd. that occurred on September 4, 2017, at approximately 11:51 a.m.

Authorities report that an adult female victim was pumping gas near her vehicle when she was approached by a male suspect brandishing a firearm. The suspect demanded the victim’s keys and fled in her vehicle, leaving the victim behind. The victim was not injured.

At approximately 12:55 p.m., Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers located the occupied vehicle WB on I-10 approaching the metro Phoenix area. A vehicle stop was conducted, and the suspect was taken into custody without further incident. The weapon was located in the victim’s vehicle and was found to be a replica firearm.

The suspect, Wesley Schenk, age 30, has been arrested and booked into the Maricopa County Jail on felony charges of Theft of Means of Transportation, Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Assault with a Simulated Deadly Weapon, and Armed Robbery.
