62-year-old William Gutierrez was arrested last night for 3 counts of Aggravated Assault with a Firearm (a class 3 felony) and 1 count of Disorderly Conduct (a class 6 felony). He was transported and booked into the Pima County Jail.
The incident began last night around 6:15 pm where Mr. Gutierrez was seen at an apartment complex at 77 N Camino Seco walking around armed with a handgun. He was seen waiving the gun around and pointing it at people.
He left that area and went to the Walmart located at 8640 E. Broadway. He went inside the store and again began waiving the gun and pointing it at citizens. Officers from Operations Division East and the K9 Unit were on scene at Walmart within minutes and were able to detain Mr. Gutierrez without incident. No shots were fired and no one was injured.
