PHOENIX – Vice President Mike Pence arrived in the Valley on Tuesday to stump for the Trump administration’s tax plan with Gov. Doug Ducey and others in a series of private conversations.

Pence’s plane touched down at Sky Harbor International Airport in the afternoon and he briefly shook hands with people gathered at the executive terminal before leaving. He did not speak to the news media gathered there.

Pence planned to meet with community leaders, local business leaders and Arizona families to talk about the need for tax reform, according to a White House news release.

Pence later donated blood in Phoenix to help Las Vegas shooting victims, according to The Arizona Republic.

The Trump administration’s controversial tax proposal includes doubling the standard income tax deduction, reducing the corporate tax rate from 35 percent to 20 percent and shrinking individual tax bands from seven to three: 12 percent, 25 percent and 33 percent.
