Tucson City Council Candidate Forum Scheduled

Six candidates are running for three seats on the Tucson City Council in the general election scheduled for November 7, 2017. All six have been invited to a candidate forum hosted jointly by the League of Women Voters of Greater Tucson and the YWCA Southern Arizona.

It will be held at 6 p.m., Wednesday, October 11, at the YWCA Building, 525 North Bonita Avenue. The event is open to the public.

The candidates:

Ward Three: Paul Durham (D) and Gary Watson (I).
Ward Five: Richard Fimbres (D), Incumbent
Ward Six: Steve Kozachik (D), Incumbent, Mariano Rodriguez (R), and Mike Cease (G).

The forum will be moderated by former LWVGT President Shirley Sandelands. Members of the audience will be able to submit questions in writing. Index cards will be made available for questions.

“All elections are important, but Tucson voters are being asked to fill a vacant seat on the council in Ward 3 in this election,” LWVGT President Freda Johnson says. “It’s important they be educated on the viewpoints of all the candidates and cast an educated vote.”

All registered voters in the City of Tucson are eligible to vote on the three races.
