Cochise Sheriff’s Office Investigates Tombstone Shooting

On Friday October 13, 2017 in the evening hours, 47 year old James Edward Roberson and a female companion went into Doc Holliday’s Saloon in Tombstone. Upon entering the bar, the two were advised that they could not have their handguns with them while inside of the establishment so they gave their weapons to the bartender for safe keeping.

While inside of the bar, the couple got into a verbal altercation with two men which continued for a short time before the couple retrieved their weapons back from the bartender shortly before 1:00 a.m. Roberson reportedly got into a struggle with one of the two men before a shot was fired injuring the man in the lower leg.

The man was airlifted to a Tucson hospital for his injury, while Roberson was booked into the Cochise County Jail on charges of Aggravated Assault, Disorderly Conduct with a weapon, Misconduct with a weapon and Endangerment. Roberson remains in custody on a $25,000 bond.
