CBP Officers Nab Phoenix Woman Smuggling Pot

Officers at the Port of Lukeville discovered packages of marijuana within the back of a smuggling vehicle

Customs and Border Protection officers at Arizona’s Port of Lukeville stopped a 49-year-old Phoenix woman attempting to smuggle nearly 179 pounds of marijuana into the United States on Sunday afternoon.

After officers referred the woman for further inspection of her Dodge van, a CBP narcotics-detection canine alerted to the rear of the vehicle where officers found 10 packages of marijuana worth more than $89,000.

Officers arrested the woman for narcotics smuggling and turned her over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations. The drugs and vehicle were seized.
