Elias On Bannon: Sunday’s Comic

Supervisor Elias, Socialists Plan Protest Of 2017 Brian Terry Foundation Courage Awards, Bannon

Elias, known for his hyperbolic speech and verbal attacks on Border Patrol agents as well as southern Arizona residents he views as “others,” offered no examples of Bannon’s alleged bigotry.

A “Banner Making Party” was planned by protesters for Thursday, November 16, from 5:30-8:00 p.m., at the Martha Cooper Library, located at 1377 N. Catalina Ave.

On Tuesday, protest organizers held a “planning meeting,” at the Pima County Housing Center.

In his press release, Tim Lennon, of Tucson Solidarity, offered a quote from an anonymous organizer from the Freedom Road Socialist Organizations: “Bannon and Breibart News represent the ideas of white supremacy in his xenophobic hatred of Latino immigrant workers and families.” Neither Lennon nor the anonymous socialist offered examples of Bannon’s behavior or statements they have determined are racist.

Protesters expressed disappointment that Pima County Supervisor Richard Elias “talked big,” but was a no-show on Saturday.

The 2017 Brian Terry Foundation Courage Awards & Benefit Dinner was held November 18, at the J.W. Marriott Starr Pass Resort and Spa in Tucson, Arizona.
