CBP Officers In Nogales Rescue Naked Man From Coal Train

Customs and Border Protection officers at Arizona’s Port of Nogales discovered an un-clothed Mexican man with multiple injuries lying on top of coal during inspection of a rail shipment at the DeConcini crossing Wednesday afternoon.

Prior to a commercial cargo train entering the United States at the DeConcini crossing, Mexican Customs officials notified CBP officers of a possible person inside one of the rail containers.

At approximately 3:30 p.m., CBP officers inspecting incoming shipments confirmed a person was inside one of the coal railcars.  Once the train stopped, CBP officers found the subject with obvious injuries.  Officers immediately provided the man with a blanket, removed him from the train and took him into custody.

During questioning, the man identified himself as a citizen from Sonora, Mexico. He also told officers he was assaulted three days earlier by two individuals who took his personal belongings, including his clothes.

The man was transported to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment. He has since been medically released and is in immigration proceedings.
