Marana Mom Arrested For Stabbing Toddler Son

The Marana Police Department is investigating an incident that occurred in the 12000 block of N. Wind Runner Parkway, in which a mother, Kay Kunes, stabbed her toddler.

On November 9, 2017, at approximately 1:56 a.m., the Marana Police Department received a 911 call reference a stabbing incident that occurred in a residence in the area of the 12000 block of N. Wind Runner Parkway. Marana Police Department (MPD) officers and Northwest Fire District (NWFD) personnel responded to the scene. MPD officers located a male toddler inside the residence with obvious signs of trauma caused by a knife. NWFD personnel transported the toddler to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

MPD detectives responded to the scene and arrested Kunes, age 42, for her involvement in the stabbing incident.

Kunes was booked into the Pima County Adult Detention Center on November 9, 2017, on one count of Attempted 1st Degree Murder.
