TPD Investigating Park Avenue Homicide

The Tucson Police Department is actively investigating the homicide  of Tereso Hernandez-Reyes that occurred Sunday morning on Tucson’s South Side.

On December 17, 2017, at 2:47 a.m., Tucson Police officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 5300 block of South Park Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male on the ground with obvious signs of gunshot trauma. Officers immediately began rendering aid to the victim utilizing their Individual First Aid Kits. Tucson Fire took over medical treatment and transported the victim to Banner University Medical Center with life threatening injuries.

Shortly after arrival, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

Detectives were able to determine that Tereso had just left a popular nightclub in downtown Tucson with some acquaintances. As they pulled into a mobile home park, at least two other vehicles followed them into the lot. A suspect then approached and began firing into the vehicle where Tereso was sitting. Tereso ran from the vehicle, but he was chased down and shot multiple times.

The suspect vehicles then fled from the scene. The other occupants in the vehicle with Tereso were not injured. The investigation revealed that the shooting was not gang related.

At this time, there are no suspects in custody. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call 88-CRIME. You can remain anonymous.
