Tucson Police Investigate East Side Homicide

The Tucson Police Department is actively investigating the death of 22-year-old Arturo Castillo that occurred yesterday evening on Tucson’s East Side.

In the early evening of December 20, 2017, shortly after 7:00 p.m., an officer working near the area of Broadway Boulevard and Camino Seco heard several gunshots. Additional officers from Operations Division East responded to the area. TPD also received several 911 calls reporting shots heard in the apartment complex located at 77 North Camino Seco. Officers located Mr. Castillo on the ground on the in the parking lot on the north side of the complex with obvious signs of gunshot trauma.

TPD officers began to perform CPR and rendered aid utilizing their Individual First Aid Kits until the Tucson Fire Department personnel responded and transported the victim to Banner University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. A short time later, he was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

Detectives learned that Mr. Castillo and at least one suspect were involved in an altercation, which resulted in shots fired at Mr. Castillo. The suspect(s) fled the scene in a light-colored sedan. The vehicle is missing its rear driver’s side window and possibly has additional damage from the gunshots.
