The Marana Police Department is investigating an armed robbery and shooting in which a patron held the suspect at gunpoint until Marana PD officers arrived on-scene, at the Nirvana Reflexology Spa located at 3720 W. Ina Rd.
On December 27, 2017, at approximately 3:16 p.m., the Marana Police Department (Marana PD) received multiple reports of a shooting incident in the side parking lot of the Nirvana Reflexology Spa. Several Marana PD officers responded to the scene within two minutes. Marana PD officers located two adult males in the parking lot. One male was armed with a handgun and was giving commands to another male that was lying on the pavement. Marana PD officers identified themselves and gave detention commands to both males. Both males were detained without further incident.
Marana PD officers quickly learned that the male that officers had seen with the gun had fired shots before Marana PD arrival. No one was struck by gunfire, and no injuries were reported.
Marana PD detectives learned that the suspect, Eric Allen Maynes, age 28, gained entry into the business via the rear entrance. Maynes brandished a knife and demanded money from the employees inside the business. After being provided with money, Maynes fled the business, ran to an adjacent parking lot, and attempted to flee in his vehicle. A patron that had been inside of Nirvana Reflexology Spa at the time of the robbery chased after Maynes outside to the parking lot and discharged several handgun rounds in the direction of Maynes. The patron held Maynes at gunpoint until Marana PD officers arrived on-scene.
Maynes was arrested and booked into the Pima County Adult Detention Center on felony Armed Robbery, Aggravated Assault, and Kidnapping charges.
