TPD Investigates Shooting Homicide On Tucson’s South Side

The Tucson Police Department is actively investigating the fatal shooting of 31-year-old Manuel Valenzuela, that took place early this morning on Tucson’s South Side.

On January 1, 2018, just after 4:00 a.m., officers from Operations Division South responded to the 100 block of West Bilby Road in reference to multiple reports of shots being fired. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male victim lying in the roadway with obvious signs of gunshot trauma. The victim was pronounced deceased on scene.

Detectives with the Tucson Police Homicide Unit responded to continue the investigation. They were able to determine that the victim was in the neighborhood with his adult brother when the shooting took place. The victim’s brother was not injured during the shooting. Detectives have spoken with the bother about the events that led up to the incident; however, details are limited while detectives continue to follow up on leads. Additional details will be released as they become available. There are currently no suspects in custody.
