Conservative Steve Montenegro picked up in the polls and another endorsement in his campaign for Congress in Arizona’s Eighth Congressional District. Montenegro received the endorsement this week of Tom Horne, Arizona’s former Attorney General and Superintendent of Public Instruction.
“I endorse Steve Montenegro for Congress. When he was in the legislature and I was Attorney General, he was one of my heroes because, among other things, he bravely worked with me in the fight against racist ethnic studies programs that teach our children a warped and inaccurate history of our country, and against race preferences in state hiring and college admissions.” said Horne in his endorsement, adding “Steve Montenegro is committed to doing what is right no matter what.”
“I remember very well fighting alongside Tom Horne when he served as our Attorney General, and I remember the attacks we faced for trying to do the right thing.” said Montenegro. “I am grateful to have him fighting alongside me now.”
Steve Montenegro led the passage of legislation to outlaw racist ethnic study programs and also ran the ban on affirmative action in state hiring, contracts, and education that Arizona voters overwhelmingly approved. Some of Steve’s other endorsements include Senators Ted Cruz and Rick Santorum, Sheriff Joe Arpaio, and Congressmen Trent Franks, Steve King and J.D. Hayworth.
While Montenegro is leading in the polls and gaining the support of the residents of CD8, Debbie Lesko, a close second, is grabbing cash from the deep-pocketed powerful special interests. The CEO of APS (Pinnacle West) Don Brandt hosted a fundraiser for Lesko. Lesko has done the bidding of the mega-corporations like APS and the chambers of commerce in the Legislature.
