Dangerous Salvadorian Gang Member Arrested By Border Patrol Agents

TUCSON, Ariz. – Border Patrol agents assigned to the Douglas Station arrested a Salvadorian gang member with an extensive criminal history Tuesday night.

Agents patrolling west of the city of Douglas arrested 42-year old Mario Guardado-Urquillo outside the city limits shortly after he entered the country illegally.

During processing, agents uncovered Guradado’s extensive criminal history, which included aggravated homicide and violent evasion of authorities in his native country of El Salvador. Further investigation revealed his membership of the 18th Street Gang. Multiple tattoos on Guardado’s body demonstrated common gang symbols.

Guardado will be processed for immigration violations and could face additional charges due to his criminal record history.

All persons apprehended by the Border Patrol undergo criminal history checks using biometrics to ensure illegal immigrants with criminal histories are positively identified.
