Tucson Police Investigating Fatal Hit And Run On East Side

The Tucson Police Department is actively investigating a fatal hit and run pedestrian collision that took place early this morning on Tucson’s East Side.

On January 26, 2018, just after midnight, officers and members of the Tucson Fire Department responded to the intersection of E. Broadway Boulevard and S. Gollob Road for a report of an adult female lying in the roadway. Witnesses were rendering first aid to the pedestrian when Tucson Fire arrived and took over medical treatment. Shortly after arrival, the pedestrian was sadly pronounced deceased on scene.

Detectives with the Tucson Police Traffic Investigations Unit responded to continue the investigation. The vehicle involved fled the scene before witnesses or first responders arrived. The pedestrian was located in the eastbound median lane of Broadway Boulevard at Gollob Road. Detectives were able to identify the pedestrian and learned that she was walking to a friend’s house just before the collision occurred.

Based on evidence left at the scene, detectives believe the vehicle involved in the collision is a 2011 to 2016 Jeep Compass or Dodge Journey. The vehicle should have extensive front-end damage. Detectives are asking anyone with information to please call 88-CRIME where you can remain anonymous. The Tucson Police Department is also asking auto repair shops to pay special attention to any vehicles matching the description provided.

The pedestrian’s name is currently being withheld pending next of kin notification.
