Maricopa County Woman Charged In Father’s Death

Detectives with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Division have arrested 61-year-old Susan Dubois Marcinko for the death of her father, 91 year old William Dubois. Suspect Dubois Marcinko is being held in the Maricopa County Jail on a $30,000.00 bond.

The MCSO Homicide Unit began a suspicious death investigation out of District III where William was found dead in his residence. William had some trauma to his arms and was said to have been engaged in a fight with his daughter Suspect Dubois Marcinko the night prior to his death. Suspect Dubois Marcinko claimed he had dementia and that she had to restrain him to keep him from hurting her.

In October of 2017, Dubois Marcinko contacted MCSO dispatch and reported that she had found her father deceased inside the courtyard within his residence located in Sun City West, AZ. The Fire Department arrived on scene and pronounced Mr. Dubois deceased.

When MCSO Deputies interviewed Dubois Marcinko, they discovered that Dubois Marcinko and Mr. Dubois were involved in a physical and verbal altercation in the home on two separate occasions within that month (One of the incidents caused Mr. Dubois to be hospitalized due to pain from the physical altercation).

Due to the history of domestic violence between Dubois Marcinko and her father, and the trauma Mr. Dubois suffered, the victim’s body was sent to the Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy. On January 17, 2018, the Medical Examiner ruled the death a homicide due to several rib fractures coupled with severe internal bleeding caused from blunt force trauma to the torso.

On January 22, 2018, Dubois Marcinko was re-interviewed where she admitted to “bouncing” on her father’s torso in the kitchen for nearly 15 minutes before dragging his body to his bedroom and leaving him in the position he was found the following day. Dubois Marcinko asserts her father was breathing when she went to bed after cleaning up the blood in the house. Dubois Marcinko was booked into Jail and charged with one count 13-1103.A- Manslaughter for recklessly causing the death of her father.
