Tucson Woman Tries To Body-Smuggle Drugs

A CBP canine alerted officers to the woman who had concealed two packages of meth within her rectum and buttocks

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at Arizona’s Port of Nogales apprehended a Tucson woman after a failed drug smuggling attempt Wednesday afternoon.

Officers working the pedestrian lanes of the Dennis DeConcini Crossing referred a 25-year-old woman for further questioning as she attempted to enter the United States from Mexico. Officers were lead to two packages of methamphetamine on the woman’s person when a CBP canine alerted to an odor it was trained to detect.

More than half a pound of meth with an estimated street value of $1,700 were seized and turned over with the subject to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
