Mother Charged In Death Of Tucson 6-Month Old

Tucson Police Department detectives have arrested 31-year-old Tamara Fowler in connection to the death of her son, 6-month-old Killian MacDonald. Previously 22-year-old Zechariah MacDonald was arrested for the baby’s death.

The charges against MacDonald have been amended to 1st Degree Murder and three counts of Child Abuse. In addition, an arrest warrant was issued for the same charges for Fowler. Through the course of the investigation, detectives learned that Fowler had known MacDonald would put items such as blankets over the baby to muffle noise.

Fowler was transported and booked into the Pima County Jail.

On February 8, 2018, just before 6:00 p.m., Tucson Police officers and members of the Tucson Fire Department responded to an apartment located at 520 W. Prince Road for a report of an unconscious child who was not breathing.

Detectives interviewed MacDonald, Killian’s father, and determined that he was home alone with his two children (6-month-old Killian and 2-year-old daughter) while their mother was at work. At some point in the afternoon, MacDonald wanted to take a nap and placed Killian in a playpen. Killian was crying, so MacDonald placed multiple blankets over his body to muffle the noise. Several hours later, MacDonald awoke and found Killian unresponsive.
