Arrest Made In 2017 Hit And Run Of Teen At Bartlett Lake

On March 13, 2018 at about 4:20 p.m., 32 year old Brad Becker was arrested for failing to remain at the scene of a boat collision that caused serious injury. Becker and his girlfriend’s 16 year old daughter were aboard the boat at the time of the collision.

On August 5, 2017, a 15 year old boy was operating a 2017 Sea Doo watercraft on Bartlett Lake, when he was involved in a collision with an unknown fishing style boat. The boy sustained life threatening injuries and was hospitalized with a traumatic brain injury for almost two months.

Lake Patrol detectives were made aware that Becker had been at Bartlett Lake with his family. It was reported he was there on his dad’s boat with his girlfriend’s daughter who was there at the time of the crash.

On March 13, 2018, detectives interviewed the daughter who confirmed and described the events up to and after Brad collided with the teen’s watercraft back in August 2017. She provided details that would only be known by those involved at the scene. In addition MCSO detectives were able to identify a shop were the boat in question had been repaired a week after the collision.

Detectives contacted Brad who told detectives he was at the Lake and remembered seeing two jet skiers and another boat helping the young man in the water. Brad was booked into the 4th Avenue Jail for leaving the scene of an injury accident, a class 5 felony
