Arrest Made In Gentry Homicide

Tucson Police Department detectives have arrested 34-year-old William Palmer in connection to the death of 37-year-old Christopher Gentry.

Tucson Police detectives learned Mr. Gentry had been inside an apartment at 5171 E. 29th St. with several other men on the night of January 8, 2018. Mr. Palmer had been involved in an incident with two men earlier that day and responded to the apartment looking for the men. When Mr. Palmer entered the apartment, he immediately began firing a handgun at all the men inside. One adult male and Mr. Gentry were struck by the gunfire. The other men began to struggle with Mr. Palmer over the gun and Mr. Palmer was also struck with gunfire. Mr. Palmer fled and was located that night at an apartment complex just east of the incident location. He and the other adult male were transported to the hospital with serious injuries. Both men have recovered and have been released from the hospital.

Mr. Gentry was pronounced deceased on scene.

On March 14, 2018, officers and the U.S. Marshal located Mr. Palmer at a hotel in Tucson, Arizona where he was taken into custody without incident. He was arrested for 1st Degree Murder, 1st Degree Burglary and Misconduct Involving Weapons (Prohibited Possessor). He was transported and booked into the Pima County Jail.
