Motorcycle Fatally Collides With Concrete Barrier In Tucson

On April 3, 2018, around 7:53 p.m., Tucson Police officers  and members from the Tucson Fire Department responded to a report of a serious injury collision involving a motorcycle in the 2700 block of E. Drexel Road. Upon arrival, they located an adult male motorcycle rider, 65-year-old Louis LeCompte Jr.,  in the roadway.

Paramedics immediately began rendering aid, but he succumbed to injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene.

Detectives learned Mr. LeCompte Jr. was riding a 1961 Harley Davidson motorcycle westbound on Drexel Road from South Country Club Road.

Drexel Road was closed using both road signs and concrete barriers from Country Club Road to Tucson Boulevard due to construction. Mr. LeCompte Jr. continued traveling westbound, past the road closure signs, and struck a concrete barrier that was in place to prevent East/West travel. Mr. LeCompte Jr. was thrown from the motorcycle. He was not wearing a helmet. Speed does not appear to be a factor in this collision.
